Except it will not be possible. Britain's colonial past, along with that of the rest of the global north, created such assumptions of entitlement, such voracious appetites for 'resources', such ecological destruction, that it accelerated global ecological overshoot and climate disruption. There is a bigger abyss... stare at it... please... before you try to naively 'rebuild' empire... we are in global social-ecological systems collapse. Why not aim to become an Island of Sanity amidst the sea of destruction you've helped cause, and ease suffering by improving the dignity with which you let go.
