Forest Whispers

“You are not your feelings”

I heard the forest whisper…

“Yes, it’s logical you feel our pain.

Yes, the trees are bare — it’s winter!

Yes, the loggers have been through.

Yes, we lost brethren, to the storms and the chainsaws.”

I silenced, centred, breathed, and stood still…

I swear I heard the forest say

“Now that I have your attention… look down here….

Yes, at your feet…

Crouch down…

See these green mosses?

See the leaves from autumn being processed?

See the way we harness the light?

Now, can you see how we will survive?”

Yes…

I thought…

I can…
