If You Have Come to Me…. Then…

--

If you have come to me seeking answers,
Then I’m afraid you might have come to the wrong person.

If you have come to me seeking guidance,
Then perhaps I can suggest some places not to go.

If you have come to me grieving,
Then let me bear witness with you.

If you have come to me seeking solace,
Then lean on me, for perhaps we can help each other?

If you have come to me seeking beauty,
Look not at me, but through my eyes.

If you have come to me seeking passion,
Then you will find it in my heart, in bucketsful!

If you have come to me seeking a fight,
Then you will not find one in me.

If you have come to me seeking courage,
Then perhaps my perseverance will have been of use?

If you have come to me feeling vulnerable,
Then join me in my own vulnerability.

If you have come to me seeking friendship,
Then hug me, for we both need friends.

If you have come to me with love in your heart,
Then welcome — well met — let’s talk!

“If you have come here to help me you are wasting your time, but if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.”
